The 8th iteration of Águileón - 38% Tempranillo, 36% Graciano, 18% Petit Verdot & 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. All hand harvested from our Cimarron Vineyard in Willcox. This wine spent 2 years resting in a dozen or so 225, 228, 300 & 500 liter barrels... mostly French oak with one American oak barrel making the cut. Of those, 33% were new. Bottled in July of 2018 without filtration or fining. Deep and bloody red in the glass... first glances give the impression that it could be one tough customer. However, olfactory investigation reveals something surprisingly dapper... bright, tart red fruit tangled up with subtle woodsy spice. Seemingly well equipped for the long haul - with nice tannin/acid interplay that hints at a structure inclined to unfold with grace over time.
