Contest Description

Enter a complete description of the contest: what the prize is, how long the contest runs for, what the winner will be able to do with the prize, and how to enter (i.e. fill in entry form using correct e-mail address, verification will be sent to your e-mail address to confirm your entry, winner will be randomly picked at such and such a date, etc.). If the prize is something that you normally sell, don’t be afraid to go into great detail about its benefits and features. People want to know what they are winning, and therefore are a very attentive audience. Also mention a little bit about your store and other products/services, and add links back to your main website. This is your chance to promote yourself! Mention any other contest sponsors and link back to their websites as well. Mention when and where the winner will be announced (i.e. this web page, another web page on your site, etc.), whether you will be contacting all entrants or just the winner, etc. Point visitors to the entry form, top right.

Entry deadlines and other important dates

State the entry date deadline with applicable time zone (date and time: December 31, 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time). State the draw date (January 1, 12:00 noon). State the deadline and draw date of any Early Bird Draws. Keep this section short, to the point, and free of “marketing” copy.

Who can't enter?

State those who are unable to participate in the contest (your employees, employees of other sponsors, their families, etc. and/or citizens outside of a certain country, city, etc.) If entrants must be a certain age, or if entrants of a certain age need parental consent, state that here.

How many times can I enter?

State whether or not multiple entries are allowed. If you are connecting this contest with any sort of password/user code to access the Contest Page, indicate how entrants can get another pass code to enter again.

Verification

Repeat that entrants must have a valid e-mail address to enter. Explain that winners need to be contacted by e-mail. Also explain that verification ensures that people are not entering the name of a person who does not want to be entered, etc. Mention any privacy policies you have (e.g. names and e-mail addresses are used internally only, will not be given or sold to another company, etc.)
